THOMAS HAMPSON

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY - Digital Force is excited to announce the release of “Wondrous Free: Song of America II” by acclaimed baritone singer Thomas Hampson.

The generously programmed 22-track CD showcases Hampson’s beautiful voice in highlights from 250 years of American song. From Stephen Foster’s ‘Hard Times’ to Charles Ives’s tragic ‘In Flanders Fields’, these songs are America in words and melodies. Hampson sings them in a natural acoustic, with his masterful regular piano partners, Wolfram Rieger and Craig Rutenberg.

The recording was released to support his ongoing “Song of America” project, which this season includes appearances at:

· Ravinia Festival, Chicago, IL
· Tanglewood Festival, Lenox, MA
· Grand Teton Music Festival, Jackson Hole, WY
· Macky Auditorium, Boulder, CO
· Herbst Theater, San Francisco, CA
· Newmark Theater, Portland, OR
· Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles, CA
· Emory University, Atlanta, GA

A dedicated web site that will develop a database of American composers will be launched later this year in conjunction with the tour dates (www.songofamerica.net). For his work celebrating American song he was appointed special advisor to the Library of Congress, which will be present with lobby exhibits at many of the performances this season.

Thomas Hampson comments:
“The ‘Song of America’ project has become a thrilling dream come true: criss-crossing our country singing the songs born of our life experiences as Americans...These songs say everything about the culture we call American.”

About his collaboration with Digital Force he says:
“Digital Force was integral in making ‘Wondrous Free’ possible. They provided great guidance in every step of the process, from the time we submitted the master up until the distribution of the final packaged product, all within a very limited time span. I sincerely hope we can continue this wonderful partnership.”

Throughout the years Digital Force has been chosen to work with some of the nation’s leading classical artists and orchestras: The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The National Symphony, The Orchestra of St. Luke’s, The Kennedy Center Chamber Players, and Music@Menlo, to name just a few. Digital Force has also been privileged to work with James Levine as the Conducting Laureate of The UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra and Michael Torke with members of the Baltimore Symphony in manufacturing their CD’s.
